On this week's episode of Gotham Mad City: Red Queen....

Valerie is in the hospital recovering from her injury with Jim by her side. Valerie wakes up and knows the reality…Jim still loves Leslie. She tells Jim that they are done and that Tetch was right, Jim is nothing but trouble.

Jervis is meeting with a crazed medicine man to acquire a substance to follow through with his plan. He wants to plunge Gotham into insanity and with this substance “The red queen” he can create psychosis that will tear the city apart. He then goes to the morgue where he steals Alice’s body to use her blood to mix with the red queen to create his virus. Jervis wants Alice’s legacy to continue…which means spread the virus through Gotham City.

Edward and Isabella have grown very close after just meeting each other. They spent the whole night together and have plans for another date. They share their first kiss and Edward returns to the mansion where Oswald is panicked about Edward not coming home. Edward tells him his good news. Oswald’s jealously is quickly obvious.

Alfred comes into the kitchen to find Bruce hard at work preparing a dinner date for himself and Selina. We think that Selina is going to stand him up and just as Bruce is about to give up hope, Selina arrives. She says she was busy and Bruce is upset she is late and wants her to be honest with him. They both agree that their situation is weird but they smile and sit down to dinner. I like seeing Bruce and Selina together. I hope this works out for them. It is Gotham though…

The crime scene at the morgue and Barnes and Bullock realize that Jervis has Alice’s body and is planning to release his virus. Jim arrives to help but Barnes quickly shuts him down and tells him he gets no more slack. Bullock then tells Jim he thinks he might be afraid. Barnes also gets some bad news back in his office when Lucius Fox tells him that the second round of testing on the rats infected with Alice Tetch blood find that the blood increases rage and manic behavior. Barnes’ stress level must be at an all-time high right now.

Edward is helping Oswald prepare for The Founders Dinner thrown for Gotham’s oldest and most elite families. Oswald asks where this Isabella works (for obvious reasons). Oswald visits her at the library and then starts to drive a wedge between Edward and her by talking about the bad things Edward has done. She looks very afraid as Oswald leaves.

Leslie and Mario are arguing about the danger Leslie was in and wants Jim out of their lives. This is ironic as Jim walks up to see Valerie. He and Leslie have their usual small talk where Leslie also thinks Jim is afraid. Jim then notices Jervis walking down the hall. He chases after him but it was all a trap as Jervis blows the red queen into his face. “Enjoy the trip…it’s going to be a bumpy ride,” Jervis says to Jim.

Jim wakes up and finds out Barbara is his guide on his red queen hallucination trip. She guides him on different levels of his worst fears. The first floor focuses on the deaths Jim feels responsible for involving police officers, soldiers and even Bruce Wayne’s parents. The second floor shows Jim the life he can’t have. The perfect life, being married to Leslie, having kids and being the perfect family. Jim isn’t a cop and doesn’t have to deal with the danger on a daily basis. Jim wants to go back to that but Barbara tells him they have one more stop to visit.

Jervis is at The Founder’s Dinner and is placing drops of his virus inside all of the wine glasses. An intense interrogation by Barnes and Bullock have them discover that Jervis plans to target the Founder’s Dinner…

Jim’s red queen trip leads him to talking with the famous Gotham District Attorney, his father Peter Gordon. Jim tries to defend what he is doing but his father isn’t buying it. He tells Jim that everyone has fear and regrets and that he needs to quit having this “lone wolf” mentality and rejoin the world. The parting words Peter gives to Jim are to find his ring and live by the Gordon family code. Mario wakes up Jim just moments before they would have lost him. That dream sequence was excellent and needs to be watched by everyone to truly appreciate how great it was. I also want to know why Mario had a bandage on the back of his neck?

Oswald has met Kathryn who tells him she is from one of Gotham’s oldest families and she is part of a group that controls things. She tells Oswald they will contact him as they all sit down for dinner. Jervis Tetch hijacks the dinner and demands everyone drink the wine or they will die. They are about to drink when Barnes, Bullock and the GCPD arrive and save the day. Barnes tackles and captures Jervis and Jervis immediately knows that Barnes is infected by Alice’s blood. The Society, Kathryn? I want to know more! I also hope this isn’t the last we have seen of Jervis.

Edward is confessing everything to Isabella, who already knows since she researched him. She doesn’t mind and feels that Edward is the man she has been waiting for. They kiss as Oswald arrives home, surprised to see her. He quickly retreats for the night as they continue to enjoy their evening.

Jim finds his father’s old ring and translates the Latin into the phrase: “While we breathe, we shall defend.” This motivates Jim to visit Barnes and tell him he wants to rejoin the GCPD. Barnes seems very happy to have him back. This happened sooner than I expected but you knew he was going back.

We find Kathryn talking to a mysterious man in the shadows. She gives him her opinions of Mayor Cobblepot and we see the man tell her that judgment is coming for them. We also see that he is wearing a ring with the Gordon family crest…
