On this past episode of Lucifer, Chloe hunts down the man who killed her father while Dan and Lucifer form an unlikely bond.
The show opens on Chloe’s police officer father. He’s bragging about her part in Hot Tub High School to his friend, a local diner owner. An armed man comes in and shoots the cop, demanding money from the owner. Chloe’s father dies immediately.
Chloe gets a call that the man who killed her father is being released. She’s incredibly upset. Who wouldn’t be? Lucifer comes in and tells her that Linda won’t return his calls. Has he scared her off for good?
Chloe complains to the warden about her father’s killer, Joe Fields, getting family leave. He’s won a petition to go to his granddaughter’s christening. She follows the prisoner transport and finds it hidden with the driver murdered. When she gets to the back of the van, she finds the guard and Joe were murdered too. What happened?
Lucifer decides to see the world from another perspective by shadowing Dan. They go to the crime scene and are surprised that Joe is the victim. The fact that Chloe was first on the scene looks bad. She’s stepping away from the case but wants Dan and Lucifer to work together. Can they do it without killing each other?
Ella tells the detectives that there was a set of prints from an ex-con, Rodney, in the van. He served time with Joe. Dan and Lucifer head out to investigate.
Maze wants a job. Trixie asks what she likes to do, but she doesn’t know. Where will Maze fit in?
A woman knocks on Chloe’s door and pulls a gun. She’s Joe’s daughter Gina, and she thinks Chloe killed him. Chloe manages to take the gun from her and calm her down. Gina gives Chloe a video Joe’s lawyer sent to her when he died.
Lucifer and Dan wait for Rodney at a local eatery he frequents. Dan handcuffs Rodney when he shows up. He’s defiant and sarcastic. Did he really do it?
Gina’s video was recorded 3 minutes before Officer Decker died, on the opposite side of town. He couldn’t have done it. Chloe is shocked. Who killed her father?
Rodney says he killed Joe for disrespecting him in the yard, but he doesn’t know the details of the crime. Lucifer finds out Rodney was paid to lie.
Maze goes to Linda’s office for a character reference, but Linda won’t let her in. Maze appears in her office anyway. That probably wasn’t the smartest idea. Linda is scared of her and asks her to leave.
Chloe tells Dan and Lucifer that Gina’s father confessed to the murder in exchange for payments to his daughter. She has the account number from the transfers. Dan thinks it must be connected to Rodney.
Dan finds that the money traces back to a bathhouse that’s a dummy front for the Russian mob. No one’s ever been able to get anything on the owner, Boris. Dan and Lucifer go in undercover and try to make a deal. Can they pull it off?
The warden brings Chloe Joe’s personal effects. She tells Ella she’ll give them to Dan, but Ella says she’s happy to help. She brought in six months’ worth of her dad’s cases. Chloe tells her about a set of unknown prints from her dad’s murder scene.
Lucifer tells Boris that his name is Dan and he wants to kill Lucifer Morningstar. Boris agrees to find him a patsy to take the blame for the crime. The guys arrest him.
Chloe interrogates Boris. He tells her that her father was investigating something he shouldn’t have been. He wasn’t just a beat cop killed on the job. That’s a step in the right direction towards finding his killer.
Maze is upset that she can’t find a job. She asks Chloe how she knew what job was right. Chloe says you just know.
Lucifer follows Dan to an improv theater. He is insulted by Dan’s impression of him. They find that they admire each other’s “simple” lives. Dan asks Lucifer to open up, but Lucy says he hurt the last person he opened up to. Dan admits he started the improv class to get away from his feelings about the divorce.
Lucifer asks Chloe why Joe would smile at her the day he was released on family leave if he was innocent. She gets the idea to look into the warden. His prints shouldn’t have been in the van, but they were. She thinks Joe was smiling at the warden, not her. When they get to the prison, the warden is gone. Did Chloe miss her chance to catch him?
Chloe hears strange noises coming from her home. Maze caught the warden, then bound and gagged him. Chloe tears his gag off and questions him about her father. He laughs and she pulls a gun. He begs for his life, but she decides to punish him by placing him in his own prison. It seems like the perfect punishment.
Maze is mad at Lucifer for ruining her relationship with Linda. She goes to Linda’s office and slips a copy of her paycheck under the door. She’s found her calling as a bounty hunter. She wants to celebrate with her friend. Linda cracks the door open. Maze tells her they’re still the same people they were. She agrees to go for a drink.
Lucifer tells Chloe her father would be proud of her. She cries and hugs him.
