Florence Henderson, one of the most famous TV moms ever featured on the small screen, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24. She was 82.

Her publicist, David Brokaw, confirmed the news to the Associated Press and said that Henderson died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center one day after she was admitted to the hospital. He went on to say that the actress was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death.

Henderson's manager, Kayla Pressman, released a statement saying that The Brady Bunch star died of heart failure.

The woman who portrayed the iconic character Carol Brady on the '70s sitcom actually started out in the entertainment business as a singer before getting into acting.

NBC News noted that Henderson performed in Broadway musicals during the 1950s before some TV gigs came about. But her role on The Brady Bunch is one that really catapulted her and the rest of the cast to fame. The show ran from 1969 to 1974 and returned to the television many times again as "The Brady Bunch Hour" in 1977, "The Brady Brides" in 1981 and "The Bradys" in 1990. Also countless reruns introduced later generations to the squeaky-clean TV family.

Henderson is survived by her four children Barbara, Joseph, Robert and Lizzie along with their spouses and five grandchildren.
