Eddie Redmayne auditioned for the Star Wars role of Kylo Ren and it didn't go so well.

The Oscar-winning actor revealed that he had auditioned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens two years ago, but had a bad reading which resulted in him not being considered for the part. Since the screenplay for the film was kept under tight wraps and not even those auditioning could see it, Redmayne had to read lines from previous films in the trilogy and Pride and Prejudice as a villain in the Star Wars films.

According to an interview with UPROXX, when he was asked to audition for the role using those screenplays in a villain's persona he shared, "If you’re me, you then put some ridiculous voice on". Redmayne attempted to work with the dialogue, impersonating the persona of Darth Vader.

The actor continued to share, "That was really a hilarious moment. Because it was Nina Gold, who I have to thank a lot because she’s cast me in several films. And she was just sitting there and I was trying again and again with different versions of my kind of ‘koohh paaaah’ [Darth Vader breathing sound] voice. And after like ten shots she’s like, ‘You got anything else?’ I was like, ‘No.'"

While Redmayne didn't get the role of Kylo Ren, he did receive the role of Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set for release on Nov. 18.
