Jane The Virgin returned with Jane going back and forth with Rafael over whether Anezka was pretending to be Petra. After discussing it one day, the next day Rafael believes it could be possible. Michael throws a teddy bear at Rafael and says they need evidence.
When Michael appears pained, Rafael asks how he’s doing. Michael needs to exercise in order to pass his physical and get back to work. Rafael offers for him to use the gym at the Marbella. Jane is excited that they are going on a “date.”
After telling Xo and Alba about the gym date, she convinces Alba to let her read the letters from her sister. Alba finally agrees but does not want Jane contacting that side of the family.
Rafael goes to see Scott and Petra to hand over the documents before leaving the teddy bear in the room. He claims that it helped Elsa sleep but in reality, there is a hidden camera inside the bear.
Jane texts with Rafael about the bear working before she jokingly sends a text from Michael to thank him for the gym offer. After Michael goes to bed, she reads the letters and discovers she has a lot of family from that side.
Rafael stays up for a while to watch the camera, but he doesn’t see anything incriminating. The next day, Rogelio comes to meet with Rafael’s producer friend, Spencer Davis. He is sure he is ready since he googled the man. Unfortunately, he googled the wrong person and messes up the meeting.
Alba is home with Xo, who asks about real estate. After telling her daughter it’s not a good idea, she answers the phone only to realize it’s her sister. She calls Jane, who did not contact her great-aunt. However, she had donted to a GoFundMe set up by one of the granddaughters and she must have told her grandmother.
Alba refuses to talk to Jane so the latter asks Xo to talk to her. Xo, who is printing out programs for her dance class recital. Jane gets a notification about the gym date and ponders spying on the guys.
Michael and Rafael are at the gym together, but things don’t go very well as the former comments on Rafael’s physique. Then at one point, Michael witnesses Rafael hugging a woman he believes is married due to a ring on her finger. After getting home, Michael tells Jane about what happened and everything not going well.
Xo talks to Alba about what Jane did, knowing that her daughter didn’t respect her feelings but teling her she would never hurt her on purpose. Then she tells her daughter to give Xo 48 hours to calm down. Rogelio then comes to tell his family that he has a movie opportunity but he will have a scene with full frontal nudity. He just wants to make sure Jane is comfortable seeing the film. She is mortified but says they will figure things out once things get closer.
Rafael is watching the cam when he hears Petra threatening to kill her sister on the phone. He rushes in and stops “Petra” just before she is about to give “Anezka” an injection. Because Rafael rushed in, she is not able to give the injection and “Anezka’s” finger moves. Rafael rushes her away to get the nurse and an hour later, Petra is awake. But when asked for her name, she claims to be Anezka.
After Rafael and the nurse leave, Petra grabs her sister by the neck angry over what happened. When asked why she didn’t say anything, Petra says it is because Anezka had used her name when signing over the shares. Petra orders Anezka to break up with Scott to begin fixing things.
Rafael and Jane are talking when she ends up talking about the married woman. He tells her she’s not actually married and is a friend of Spencer Davis, who he was trying to fix things with for Rogelio. Jane calls Michael to tell him what happened and he feels awful for jumping to conclusions. He vents to Rogelio, who decides to fix things himself.
Jane is on her laptop when she gets a message from her cousin, Catalina. They end up talking and even Skype one another. Later at work, she apologizes to Alba and tells her about her cousin. Alba, who had been holding a cash pouch for work, puts it down as they talk. She does not want Jane to stay in contact and is upset because her sister caused such a rift that Alba’s mom died still hating her. Then Alba is stunned to see the cash pouch has gone missing since they began talking.
Jane works to get security footage to find the cash pouch. She leaves to talk to Scott, but he is upset. He thinks that Petra is planning to break up with him.
Rogelio has Rafael and Mateo in the car when he picks up Michael. They are stunned to realize he is trying to work things out between them. After arguing, Rogelio gets a call from his agent. It turns out the audition he thought was the next day was actually in ten minutes. He makes a quick U-turn but ends up with a flat tire.
At the Marbella, Jane talks with Scott to try and cheer him up so he will feel better enough to do her a favor.
While trying to fix the flat tire, Michael calls Uber for Rogelio, whose shirt ends up ruined due to a tire he was holding. Rafael removes his shirt to give it to Rogelio.
Back in the hotel, Anezka, as Petra, is about to break up with Scott but he proposes to her in front of everyone. Petra is not happy to hear this and demands the ring so she can break up with him herself.
While Mateo plays on the sidewalk, Michael and Rafael argue as they fix the flat tire. When the subject of the woman comes up again, they argue and Rafael says he wouldn’t go after a married woman. Michael retorts back that he was engaged to Jane when they all met. Before he can reply, Rafael realizes Mateo is missing. They immediately rush to find him.
Rafael finds his son and after they both sit down in relief, they smooth over the argument. Once things cool down, they ask each other what they like before finally seeing they have soccer in common.
Jane talks to Xo about finding the cash pouch and working to make things right with Alba. Xo says her daughter always wanted Alba’s approval. One example of this was when Jane asked her abuela for permission to go to Disney World even though Xo had said yes two days earlier.
Petra is about to break up with Scott when he mentions they have a possible buyer for the hotel. She holds off on the breakup until she can meet him.
Rafael and Michael pick Rogelio up and as he looks at a poster, Michael gets an epiphany. With Rafael and Rogelio’s help, he works out the passages from the quote “Angels Guard The Sun” and comes up with 12 numbers. Both Rafael and Rogelio think of a bank account number. Rogelio gets a phone call and finds out he got the part for the role he wanted.
The entire family makes it to the kids’ recital and after the performance, Xo has an epiphany about her career. She decides she will open her own dance studio and everyone loves the idea.
After the meeting with the potential buyer, Petra finally breaks up with Scott. She tells him that he was “a true surprise” and she just needs to focus on herself. After he leaves, she sees Anezka with the twins.
Jane talks to Alba and tells her that she wants to be in touch with her family and they may not always agree, but she needs to do this for herself. After going home with Michael, they are shocked to see Catalina at their doorstep.
Rogelio is with the network executives for his show and they tell him that he can do the role, even though they had a no nudity clause, but he has to do something in return. What that is has yet to be revealed.
Petra goes to see Rafael and tells him that he will be the one leaving the hotel. She angrily tells him that it was her who was paralyzed and she heard him tell Anezka, who was her at the time, he didn’t think Petra had the “mom” gene. Petra is done playing nice since no one even noticed Anezka was acting as her. As the narrator said, “the b**ch is back.”
