Jane The Virgin returned with Michael and Jane racing to their home in order to be together for the first time. However, her family interrupts when they all come over to set up the house and decorate. However, Xo is getting ready for an audition to be on The Voice.
Later, Jane is at school and texting Michael when her mentor tells her she wants the next chapter of her novel. Jane just has to interview her abuela to get more of her background.
At her audition, Xo is doing well when she is asked what she would do if she wasn’t a singer. Unfortunately, Xo is not sure since she had always had it in her head she would sing.
While interviewing Alba, Jane discovers that she has a photo of her sister. She is surprised to see she looks just like her Great-Aunt. When Alba refuses to acknowledge it, Jane wonders why the two stopped speaking.
Jane is working when Michael returns home. They finally have their romantic moment and consummate their relationship. The next morning, Jane is preparing to send her video when she realizes it’s taking forever to load. As she looks at the video, she is horrified to realize they accidentally filmed their first time together and sent it to her professor.
At her office, Jane realizes her professor did not read her e-mail to not watch the video in time. She admits it was her first time having sex. Her mentor realizes why her romance novel has been missing something. She was missing the sex part of the romance.
While at work, Jane admits to Lina that she faked her orgasm with Michael. She was too embarrassed to talk to him about it.
Michael and Rafael talk at the police station when the former brings up Rafael’s family. The audience sees Luisa is with Rose. In a flashback, they talk about their relationship. Luisa is unwilling to say yes to getting back together, but is fine having sex with her. Luisa tells Rose she wants to check her e-mail to see if Rafael sent her a birthday message. She also wants to know who Rose killed.
Jane works on writing as she hears Cecilia’s voice in her head. When she discovers that her mom wants to give up singing, Jane calls her father for help. He is willing to call in a favor for help.
Alone with Michael, Jane admits she is having a hard time with her orgasms. Even when he tries things they’ve done before, she is still in her head about everything.
At work, Rogelio meets with Dina to ask about working together to get into the Hollywood market with the CW as a network option for The Passions of Santos. Later, he is able to work things out for Xo with a music producer to hear her sing at the Marbella. Jane convinces her mom to give it a shot.
At the meeting, Dina and Rogelio find out the CW loves their show, but wants Rob Lowe as the lead. This does not sit well with Rogelio but Dina asks him to consider it since it’s good business.
Jane buys some gel that should get her in the mood for sex, but ends up having a bad reaction to it when she applies it. After trying to fix the situation, she and Michael talk about what is going on and he asks that they don’t talk to anyone about what is happening.
Back at the house, Jane looks at her old bedroom before seeing her mom. She tells her about finally having sex, but doesn’t get into the details even though she does want to talk.
Rogelio talks to the family about the show and they have varying reactions to what he is trying to decide on. Later, Jane works on writing when she realizes she should give Cecilia more depth in her story. Cecilia shows up in the form of a nun to tell Jane that sex is about connecting with another person. However, when Jane tries to start things with Michael, he isn’t in the mood.
Jane finds out that the music producer cancelled on coming to the Marbella but Rogelio has an idea.
Luisa is reading the murder list and ends up jumping when Rose comes in. She has a letter from Rafael. He hadn’t forgotten her birthday at all. They were a day ahead so it wasn’t her birthday yet in Florida. She reads his letter and sees he still cares about her.
Gloria and Emilio Estefan make an appearance to watch Xo sing. But when Xo doesn’t know if she wants to talk to them about a singing career, Jane lashes out because of all her frustration.
Rose talks to Luisa about how she reacted when she came into the room earlier. She tells her she would like to be with her and have a new face, but Luisa is not sure. Rose then offers to take her back up to land so that she can fly home and they will never see each other again.
Xo has a talk with her daughter and realizes what is going on. Now that she has lost her virginity, she thinks she has lost a part of herself. Xo helps Jane realize that she gained a new part of herself and that eventually, she and Michael would find their groove. Jane gets a text from Lina, who had accidentally told Michael she knew about their situation.
Back at home, Jane hears moaning and thinks Michael is watching porn. It turns out he is watching their sex tape to see where things may have gone wrong. But when they see things she liked, they make love and have a better time.
Jane writes her chapter and ends up guessing on the fight between Alba and her sister. It turns out she was correct and Alba thinks she read letters in her closet. Jane and Xo run to her room to see.
Rogelio and Dina have a discussion about working together and come up with a deal for the show.
Luisa comes back to the Marbella and talks to Rafael and Michael about Rose’s murder list. She says Derek is dead and so is Rafael’s mother. But Rafael claims this is not true and Michael makes a phone call. A corrections officer goes to Elena, only to find her dying and saying, “My son.” Is Rafael in danger?
