Actress Tika Sumpter went on Twitter to express her outrage after her mother's arrest which she claimed was for an overdue library book.
Sumpter took to the social media site on Monday, Nov. 14 and claimed that her mom, Janice Aquista, was arrested for that very reason in North Carolina.
The Have and the Have Nots star tweeted, “Make sure you turn in your library books North Carolina! My mom was just arrested for having a late fee of 10 dollars on an overdue book!”
The 36-year-old caused sort of a commotion on Twitter as many were shocked and responded with questions about the incident. Some of her followers weren't even sure if she was serious, but Sumpter assured them she was not joking.
“The Southside With You” actress thought it was ridiculous and made her opinion known by tagging the library, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper in one of her tweets.
Despite Sumpter's barrage of tweets, Page Six later reported that Aquista actually got arrested for a bad check. It was not immediately known if that check was related to the overdue library book and there hasn't been any other information given regarding that check.
Either way Sumpter let her fans know that her mother was released from jail shortly after being placed there.
