While everyone seems to have moved on from Deflategate, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady isn’t done talking about it yet.
Brady made fun of the scandal in a new Foot Locker ad that debuted on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
The Foot Locker ad is part of the company’s Week of Greatness. In the ad two fans walk into a diner after getting shoes at Foot Locker and wonder how the company is successful which Brady overhears and goes into a speech that’s about him, according to ESPN.
"Just because something is great year after year doesn't mean anything is going on," he tells the fans in the ad. "Why can't some things just be great? It starts with questions, and then questions turn into assumptions, and then assumptions turn into vacations. So why would you punish the Week of Greatness for something that never even happened?"
Foot Locker wrote the ad for Brady who had no problem doing it.
"We like our spots to allow athletes to poke fun at themselves, and people enjoy that," Jed Berger, Foot Locker’s vice president of brand marketing said. "Our fans and customers like to see these athletes as humans. I don't think anyone has seen Tom Brady like they see him in this spot."
In 2013, Foot Locker’s Week of Greatness ads featured Mike Tyson giving Evander Holyfield his ear back, Dennis Rodman getting a one-way ticket to North Korea and Brett Favre realizing that it’s time to retire.
It will be interesting to see who is the next athlete is that makes fun of themselves in a FootLocker ad.
