A&E Network will be airing a new documentary series about the modern-day Ku Klux Klan. Yes, you read that correctly.
The New York Times noted that the eight part docu-series is titled Generation KKK and will give viewers a look into the lives of four families each of whom have one member who wants to get out of and distance themselves from the notorious hate group.
The announcement of the network airing a show like this was of course met with backlash, but executive vice president and general manager of A&E Rob Sharenow stressed that the series will not be promoting the group's ideology.
"We certainly didn't want the show to be seen as a platform for the views of the KKK," Sharenow said. "The only political agenda is that we really do stand against hate."
Generation KKK will examine racial hatred in America and expose the mission of this infamous racist and anti-Semitic organization.
The series is set to begin airing on Jan. 10.
