Authorities in Washington D.C. have found the body of an actress who went missing on Christmas Day.
Interim Police Chief Peter Newsham said during a news conference Tuesday morning that the body of Tricia McCauley, 46, was discovered in her car and although her death has not officially been ruled a homicide one suspect is in custody.
According to the police report, the man in custody allegedly robbed a CVS and assaulted the store's employees before police caught up to him. He was seen driving McCauley's car prior to the robbery and when law enforcement officials searched the vehicle they found her lifeless body inside and apprehended the suspect.
His name has not yet been released.
“We do not believe at this time that the suspect knew the victim,” Newsham said.
McCauley's brother, Brian, confirmed his sister's death in a statement via social media.
“Tricia is gone, they have found her body. Thank you all for your work, support and love,” the statement said. “To all of her DC family, I know she truly thought of you that way, thank you for being there for her all these years. Hang on to each other.”
McCauley was known for her work in Step Up, The Paper Girl and Never Dream: The Beginning.
