The Los Angeles coroner's office revealed on Tuesday the exact cause of death of actor Gary Shandling.

The Associated Press noted that the office concluded that the funnyman died from a blood clot in his heart which he developed after blood clots formed in his legs. Results from the toxicology report shows that Shandling had just a "therapeutic" amount of Xanax and cold medicine in his system.

As we reported, paramedics were called to the 66-year-old actor's home last March after he suffered a "medical emergency." He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Shandling was well known for his work on The Larry Sanders Show which ran from 1992 to 1998. The show earned him multiple Emmy Awards.

He also had roles in several movies including Iron Man 2, Dr. Dolittle, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Zoolander.
