Former Wham! singer George Michael has passed away at age 53.
According to BBC News, his publicist released a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George Michael passed away peacefully over the Christmas period.”
It was reported by the Thames Valley Police an ambulance had been called to a house in Goring, located in Oxfordshire, around 13:42 GMT.
Police also stated there did not appear to be any suspicions regarding his death. Just earlier in the month, there were reports Michael was working on a new album with Naughty Boy.
Michael’s career with Wham! Began when he teamed up with Andrew Ridgeley in the ‘80s. He began his solor career with his 1987 album Faith.
A statement from the family asked “that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”
