Things are now officially over for Flip or Flop's seemingly perfect couple.

Christina and Tarek El Moussa announced that they have split up after seven years of marriage and in a statement referenced an altercation which led to police being called to their home several months ago.

“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” they said in a joint statement to People. “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”

The two added, “During the process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be. We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”

TMZ reported that last May authorities arrived at the El Moussa's California home over a report of “a possibly suicidal male with a gun.” Almost a dozen officers and one helicopter showed up at the property where Tarek allegedly ran from with a firearm. Police said that once they caught up to him he dropped his weapon and told them he was just trying “blow off some steam” but wasn't going to hurt himself or anyone else.

Five guns including an AR-15 rifle were confiscated from the home.

At this time HGTV said it plans to continue airing episodes of Flip or Flop.
