Lady Gaga revealed in a new interview that she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The singer's admission came during her appearance on Today where she discussed her recent visit to the Ali Forney Center, which is a shelter in New York City for LGBT homeless youth.

"I love to give things to people that have nothing or less than me. These children are not just homeless or in need. Many of them are trauma survivors; they've been rejected in some kind of way," Gaga said. "My own trauma in my life has helped me to understand the trauma of others.

"I don't have the same kind of issues that you have but I have a mental illness and I struggle with that every day so I need my mantra to help keep me relaxed."

The 30-year-old star revealed in 2014 that she was raped when she was 19 years old, however, she had never publicly spoke about having PTSD until now.

Today documented the "Born This Way" singer's visit to the shelter for the #ShareKindness campaign.
