Jax Teller fans rejoice as the Sons of Anarchy spinoff pilot, Mayans MC, has been picked up by FX.
Set to shoot in March, the pilot will center on the Mayans motorcycle club, which has always had tension with the Sons of Anarchy.
Kurt Sutter, who created Sons, will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer, according to Variety. Elgin James co-wrote the script with Sutter and will also be co-executive producer.
The spinoff will focus on EZ Reyes, a "prospect," or possible member for the Mayans. Between dealing with the women in his life and seeking payback against the cartel, EZ has a similar journey to a certain Sons protagonist.
On Sons Marcus Alvarez, played by Emilio Rivera, controlled the Oakland Chapter of the Mayans. It has yet to be confirmed if Rivera will play a major role, but he did post an Instagram picture of him in character.
However, Sons fans may recall that their resident bad boy biker, Jax, didn't exactly ride into the sunset with a happily ever after.
In this post-Jax pilot, fans may be disappointed to learn that actor Charlie Hunnam is not going to be on the show.
Hunnam, who portrayed the beloved character, told GQ earlier in the year about leaving the series.
"It was a lot tears for, like, two or three weeks, every time I thought about it," said the 36-year-old. "Then one day, I woke up and was like, 'Okay, it's time to move on. RIP, Jax Teller.'"
There is no word whether Mayans MC will be picked up as a regular series.
Sons of Anarchy came to an end after seven seasons in 2014.
