Trainwreck star and stand-up comedian, Amy Schumer, is rumored to play Barbie in the upcoming live-action movie Barbie.
The movie will be based off of the popular doll, Barbie manufactured by Mattel, Inc. since March 1959. According to The Wrap, “the company has sold over a billion iterations of her in the last 50 years.”
According to Variety, the new movie is headed by producers, Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who also acquired the rights from Mattel, Inc. in 2014. Hilary Winston, the television screenwriter responsible for Community and My Name is Earl, is set to write the screenplay for the movie, although there is a possibility that Schumer and her sister, Kim Caramele, will take part in the writing process. Lauren Abrahams will oversee the project for Sony Pictures.
The film still doesn’t have a director and the plot is still unknown.
