We all know Donald Trump wasn't happy with Meryl Streep's comments during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. While the actress never mentioned the president-elect by name, it was clear who she was referring to and so in response Trump took to Twitter and called Streep "overrated." Now, everyone from late night hosts to Hollywood heavyweights are giving their take on what they thought about the 19-time Academy Award nominee's comments and Trump's reply to her.

George Clooney, who was a big Hillary Clinton supporter, is one of the celebrities slamming Trump for tweeting that Streep is "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood." The actor spoke to People and addressed the controversy on Monday, Jan. 9, during an event hosted by The Clooney Foundation for Justice.

“I’ve always said that about Meryl. She’s maybe the most overrated actress of all-time," Clooney said sarcastically. "She and I worked together on Fantastic Mr. Fox as husband and wife and I will tell you even as a fox, a female fox, she’s overrated.

"Aren’t you supposed to be running the country?” he then asked Trump rhetorically.

Barbra Streisand is another person who spoke about the matter. Babs did not bite her tongue saying that she agrees with Streep's remarks about Trump mocking journalist Serge F. Kovaleski, something the soon-to-be president has since denied.

“I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully,” Streisand told Chris Matthews. “I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. What we need more in this world is kindness and common decency and what he did and how he reacts and how he has the need to talk back and insult anybody who doesn’t agree with him, that’s pretty disgraceful.”

Robert De Niro also praised Streep for her words in an open letter, which read in part: “I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough.”

And finally, late night talk show hosts had some fun defending the actress and criticizing Trump.

"Of course, the President-elect Trump was too focused on fighting ISIS and creating jobs to pick a fight with a celebrity. Just kidding!" Stephen Colbert said in his opening monologue before adding, "Meryl Streep overrated? Have you seen Sophie’s Choice? Have you seen The French Lieutenant's Woman? Have you seen that one with the dead people that she’s even funny in that one? Look, Mr. Trump, you can refuse to release your taxes, you can call to ban an entire religion, you can play footsie with a dictator, but calling Meryl Streep overrated? No. Too far!"

On Monday's Late Night with Seth Meyers the host said, “Overrated? She’s so good, people use her to compliment people in other professions. Like, 'LeBron James is the Meryl Streep of basketball,' or, 'Donald Trump is the Meryl Streep of having thin skin.' Whether these tweets are calculated distractions or just the ramblings of an unhinged narcissist, it’s clear Trump would much rather talk about his feud with Meryl Streep than, say, the fact that intelligence officials believe Russia hacked the Democratic National Committee and the Trump campaign to help Trump win the election.”

Meanwhile, James Corden simply joked that "'most overrated actress in Hollywood' was literally the only award [Streep] hadn't won yet."
