Dan Aykroyd, star of 80’s hit films such as Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters, wrote a funny yet touching tribute to former fiancée, Carrie Fisher.
In an essay published via Empire Magazine, Aykroyd recalls how he fell in love with Fisher after meeting her on an episode of Saturday Night Live and how she offered him “Hollywood-glamorous emotional comfort.”
The actor’s essay is filled with anecdotes from their relationship. He recalls how he gave Fisher a sapphire engagement ring and in return she gave him “a Donald Roller Wilson oil painting of a monkey in a blue dress next to a tiny floating pencil,” which he kept until “it began to frighten my children.”
Aykroyd concluded his tribute by stating that though Fisher married Paul Simon he hopes she kept his ring.
