Dennis Quaid has denied the rumored allegations of animal abuse on the set of his new film A Dog's Purpose, but with two very different stories.

Last week, a video went viral which showed a German Shepherd, named Hercules, on the set of A Dog's Purpose and what appeared to be a trainer forcing the dog into the water.

While Hercules appeared to many people to look terrified, Quaid dismissed that as accurate and went on record to state, "My experience is that the animals were treated great. There was no animal abuse. That video that someone took and sold for money and held on to for a year and a half until right before the film's coming out, does not tell the whole story. First of all, it's been edited and manipulated. And I think it's a scam, to tell you the truth."

The actor spoke with ET on Monday saying, "The dog was acting like a dog who was kind of tired of taking a bath and was ready to get out. And, in fact, that's what happened. They took the dog out."

This morning on The Today Show however, he told a different story. He claimed that the dog was excited to go into the water, and they were holding him because they were changing the angle in which he was entering the scene. This happens to be the official statement of Birds and Animals Unlimited, the company who provided the dogs for the film.

Universal Studios, the parent company of NBC, and Amblin Entertainment canceled the premiere of A Dog's Purpose in response to the footage and the reaction it received. Some organizations including PETA, have called for a boycott of the film and its release which set for Jan. 27.

So what say you animal lovers? Is there something more to learn about the treatment of the dogs? Will you be seeing the premiere of A Dog's Purpose when it comes out on Friday? Or is what you saw in the video enough to keep you away?
