Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood adorns suit to the Golden Globes to prove "dresses aren't a requirement for women."

E! co-host Ryan Seacrest conducted an interview with the nominated actress on the red carpet on Sunday night, in which she showed off the custom suit by Altuzarra. Upon Seacrest's questioning, Wood explained that it was her third nomination and sixth time attending the Golden Globes and that she had worn a dress every time, but this time around she wanted to change things up a bit.

"I love dresses. I'm not trying to protest dresses," the 28 year-old said. "But I wanted to make sure that young girls and women knew they [dresses] aren't a requirement. And that you don't have to wear one if you don't want to and to just be yourself because your worth is more than that."

Wood also mentioned the suit was intended to pay homage to Marlene Dietrich, Victor Victoria and of course David Bowie. The award show fell on the same day as the late rocker's birthday.

Golden Globe nominee Octavia Spencer also wore a suit to the Globes that night. Whether or not it was a fashion statement on her part as well, it seems more female celebrities are bypassing gowns for a sharper attire.
