It's been more than three weeks since George Michael was found dead at his home in England on Christmas morning and we still do not know the exact cause of death. Now though, the singer's childhood best friend is claiming Michael died from a drug overdose.
Andros Georgiou, who became friends with Michael when they were small children, made the explosive claim during an interview with BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire Show on Tuesday.
“I think it was an accident,” Georgiou said. “Hard drugs had been back in his life. I just think that he took too much of something, mixed with the anti-depressants and the other drugs he was on, with alcohol. I think his heart just stopped beating. You know if you take — if you’re on Xanax for instance, or Temazepam — your heart slows down anyway.”
He added that “crack was one of [Michael’s] favorite drugs” but denied that the British star ever used heroin saying, “I know that is the one drug he would never touch.”
Georgiou's claim, however, is pure speculation as the public does not yet know the cause of death or the results of the toxicology report. Furthermore, Georgiou has not spoken to the "Faith" artist since 1998 when they had a falling out.
As we reported, the results of the initial autopsy done on Michael last month were “inconclusive."
