Paula Patton and Robin Thicke are involved in a custody battle over their six-year-old son and now things are getting really nasty as allegations of child abuse have come out.
TMZ reported that on Jan. 3, Patton and Thicke's son, Julian, told officials at his school that his dad spanked him a few times. The school then contacted the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Service and an investigation into the claim was opened.
The media outlet also noted that a school official said in a declaration that Julian said his father frequently "punches" him. And a nanny for the child has claimed that she saw Thicke smoke marijuana in front of his son.
Thicke denied these allegations and in legal docs said, "On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law — open hand on the butt. This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage."
Patton, however, claimed that their child is "scared" of Thicke and requested to limit his joint custody. On Thursday, Jan. 12, a judge denied her request.
“The judge denied all of Paula’s requests for custody,” a source close to the situation told People. “She wanted more custody because of her allegations of physical abuse, which are untrue and unfounded.”
Thicke wrote in his legal docs that his ex-wife's claims are due to the fact that she was not invited to his father, Alan Thicke's funeral last month.
"Paula did not have a positive relationship with my father and often made negative comments to me about my father," he said. "As such, she was not welcome at his funeral."
