Fans of Samurai Jack are rejoicing today as it has been announced that the show will be back on the air starting March 11.

After a 13-year hiatus Cartoon Network will begin airing the show again, but this time in the Adult Swim nighttime programming block.

Samurai Jack, which follows a samurai on a mission to go back in time to kill an evil demon named Aku, originally aired Aug. 10 2001. It ended after 52 episodes in 2004, much to fans dismay, without a conclusion to its story. According to geek.com, the show's creator, Genndy Tartakovsky, announced the new 10-episode season will be the end of the show. Additionally, he plans to use their new home on Adult Swim to portray a darker more violent version of the show.

Despite a relatively short run, Samurai Jack received critical acclaim as a series which puzzled fans as to why it was canceled. It has won many awards, including multiple Annie Awards and Emmys as well. Plus, the show has made it on numerous lists for all-time great animation series, ranking as high as 11th by IGN for its Top 25 Primetime Animated Series of All Time list in 2006.

The show's popularity can be seen by fan's reactions via social media. Right after the announcement was made Samurai Jack began trending on Facebook
