By now you've probably heard that Shia LaBeouf has been holding an anti-Trump protest since the day of the new president's inauguration last week and while his livestream has shown tensions flaring during the demonstration, there has been no physical violence. Wednesday, however, was a different story as the actor was arrested for assault.
LaBeouf has been protesting outside a museum in New York City since Donald Trump was swore into office Friday, Jan. 20. He has been livestreaming the entire thing via social media and spreading one clear message, "He will not divide us," which he and the other demonstrators have been chanting.
USA Today noted that on Wednesday, Jan. 25, though LaBeouf was involved in a physical altercation with another man who showed up at the demonstration. The 30-year-old allegedly pulled a scarf of the other man and scratched his face. LaBeouf was then arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault. It is not yet let clear what sparked the incident.
Just this past Monday LaBeouf invited anyone who wished to join in the four-year project to come to the museum, requesting only that everyone there "be nice to each other."
