Steve Harvey is offering an apology for some jokes he told on his syndicated daily talk show recently that did not sit well with some viewers.
The Associated Press noted that during a segment on his Jan. 6 show, Harvey was making jokes about a book titled, How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men. No, that's not the joke, that is actually the name of a book that Harvey was mocking. But what started out as mocking bad book titles, quickly turned into joking about Asian men when the comedian suggested that white and black women are not interested in Asian men.
The jokes did gain laughter among the studio audience, however, social media users were not amused and even labeled Harvey as a racist.
These days, especially with how loud social media backlash can be, there is a fine line between what's funny and what's downright offensive so Harvey chose to apologize to those who found his jokes offensive rather than humorous.
At the end of this month, Harvey will be in the Philippines to host the Miss Universe Pageant. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets there.
