Catch up on The Vampire Diaries before this week’s show. On this episode, Damon fights against Sybil’s will. Can he come out on top?
Sybil calls Damon and asks for the ball he stole from Matt’s family. Stefan suggests they go back to Mystic Falls to kill Sybil. Damon already failed once. Can he pull it off this time?
Bonnie arrives at Caroline’s place bearing gifts. She’s wearing a necklace filled with Enzo’s blood that he gave her on their last night in France. Is that creepy or romantic?
Seline calls Caroline and the girls meet her at the Grill. Seline wants to combine the pieces of the bell they each hold to kill Sybil. Will Caroline and Bonnie help her?
Caroline calls Matt from the Miss Mystic Falls gathering to find out where Seline is staying. She and Bonnie want to leave once the dancing starts to find the striker. Instead, Damon, Stefan and Sybil all show up. So much for their plans.
Damon wanders and thinks of being there with Elena. Sybil breaks him out of it, but he refuses to give her the striker. When she tries to get into his head, he’s able to strike back. She can no longer influence him. When did that happen?
Bonnie sees Sybil whispering to a pageant member. Enzo steps in before she can investigate. They discuss the necklace he gave her and Bonnie assures him she will never use it to become a vampire. With her life linked to Elena’s, there’s no way of knowing its effects. Enzo is disappointed.
Caroline asks Damon for the striker, but he wants Sybil to fix his mind first. He also accosts her for giving him Elena’s necklace, saying it’s been nothing but trouble. Caroline tells him to find her in his heart and fight for her.
Sybil’s sirened girl offers her neck to Stefan. Stefan tells Sybil he can find his own meals. They discuss Damon. Stefan says it’s Mystic Falls that gives him the power to resist. He wants to knock Damon down a peg. What is he planning?
Matt’s at Seline’s home while Dorian distracts Seline, but he can’t find the bell. Suddenly, the police pound on the door. Matt tells him he’s just looking for the town bell. This triggers the officer to go for his gun. Apparently Seline used her siren powers on him. Matt knocks him unconscious and texts Dorian that he has a lead.
Stefan goads Damon about loving Elena. Damon denies it, but Stefan pulls the pendant out of his pocket and destroys it before walking off with Sybil.
Caroline steps in to convince Damon that it’s still worth fighting for his memories by dancing with him. Stefan and Sybil cut in. Sybil tells Damon he should be afraid of facing his humanity. It’s going to come back and crush him for every evil thing he’s done. She tries to convince him to give up and give her what she wants. He tells her the striker is upstairs. Is he really going to give it to her?
Enzo asks Bonnie if she would become a vampire if Elena didn’t exist. She tells him a year ago she would’ve been offended by the question, but now she would turn for him. However, she won’t wear the necklace if it means more than being a symbol of her love.
Seline asks Dorian who’s looking for the bell. He admits it’s Matt. She’s glad because Matt’s is the only family that can ring it.
Caroline asks Bonnie and Enzo to escort all the guests safely off the property while she tries to stop Damon from giving Sybil the striker. The pageant girls ask Caroline who won. She tries to send them home, but Stefan has compelled them to stay. This can’t be good.
Sybil tries to snatch the bell from Damon, but he tells her the more she mucks about in his head, the more he realizes Elena’s there to stay. He then hits Sybil over the head with the striker.
Matt enters the evidence locker at the police station and finds the bell. A cop comes in. Matt pins him down and asks him to radio his guys to tell them to get far away so he can take it without interference.
Stefan tells Damon he’s hitting the road alone. Damon says he took down Sybil. Isn’t that what they came for? Stefan says the woman in his head is Elena and stakes him with a broken hanger. He grabs the striker and leaves.
Stefan tosses Caroline the ball, then kills one of the beauty queens. He tells her that he gave the girls his blood. He figures vampirism is a one-way track to hell, so he’s doing Cade’s work. Caroline stakes him.
The pageant queen awakes and Caroline tells her the new rules to stay alive. The girl asks Caroline to kill her quickly, but Caroline explains how good life can still be. She offers to help.
Dorian brings Seline to Matt and tells him he should listen.
Caroline waits for Stefan to wake up and tells him they’re in this situation together. From now on he’s to stick to murderers and other evil people until he can get out of his deal with Cade. Stefan says he doesn’t want to quit. She gives him his ring back and tells him he’ll wake up someday not remembering what happiness feels like. Until then, he can stay away from her.
Enzo gives Bonnie her necklace back. She tells him they’ll just have to make their 60-70 years count. But what if that could be the end for both of them? She wants Enzo to take the cure. Will he do it?
Damon wakes next to Sybil and chains her up in a dungeon. He tries to get in her mind and torture her. In return, she gives him all of his humanity and memories back at once. Can he live with the guilt?
