Rumors have been flying around for months about NBC resurrecting Will & Grace and now it has finally been confirmed!
Jennifer Salke, NBC Entertainment's president, has officially announced via NBC's TCA that the beloved sitcom will return to the network for a limited 10-epsiode run, starting this year.
It was rumored that the network was playing around with the idea of a reunion and making negotiations after a brief election-themed reunion episode aired and went viral. That clip just so happened to be released on Sept. 26, the day of the first presidential debate.
The new 10-episode season is being considered a ninth follow-up season to the already eight that ran on NBC's network and other syndicated broadcast networks beginning in 1998. All four original actors Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally, and Sean Hayes from the 16-time Emmy winning show "were excited about getting back into production," said Salke.
Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, the creators and executive producers of the sitcom were involved in the reunion episode as well as having been part of the series from the beginning. "Dave and I are absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to write what Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are thinking in 2017," Mutchnick said when speaking about getting the cast back together in September.
