Matt Damon has been trying to get on Jimmy Kimmel Live for years now. He finally got on Monday but he had to dress up as New England Patriots quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady to do it.
During his monologue, Kimmel introduced his special guest by calling Brady the most beloved Patriots player of all time. Damon as Brady told Kimmel that he felt great like he was going to Disneyland. When the late night host asked him about Deflategate the actor said he’s not focused on the past.
"I'm happy for my teammates. I'm happy for Boston. I'm just mostly happy to be here on the show," he said. "I'm on the Jimmy Kimmel show!"
After the Super Bowl Brady lost his jersey and told Patriots owner Robert Kraft that someone stole it so the late night host asked the why he was still in uniform.
"I just haven't had time to change, because I've been fired up. I've been fired up," he replied. "I kind of don't ever want to take it off."
Kimmel then took off the football helmet, revealing that his special guest was Damon and not Brady.
"I did it! I did it! Yes!" the actor shouted after he was unmasked. "Hey, if I'm not on the show right now, where am I? I'm on the show! Touchdown!"
He also said, “I won the Super Bowl and I won your stupid show!”
Kimmel had Damon escorted off the stage and he was then interviewed by sportscaster Rich Eisen.
"It feels great. I've worked so hard for this. All the years ... I think it's 14 years of being in the dressing room and thinking I'm going to get out. We never gave up. First of all, I want to thank God, because he hates Jimmy so much that he just made all this happen..." Damon told Eisen.
