Things are over for two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and her husband, Clay Pell, as the politician has filed for divorce from his wife of four years.

ET reported that Pell filed the appropriate court docs on Monday, March 27, to end his marriage to the retired figure skater and cited irreconcilable differences.

"It is with deep regret that I share that Michelle and my marriage is coming to an end. This is a sad and difficult turn of events for our family," Pell (full name Herbert Claiborne Pell) said in a statement. "I love Michelle, and wish her the very best as her life takes her in a new direction. I want to thank friends and family who have given wisdom and support and I ask for privacy during this challenging time."

Kwan and Pell married in 2013 after meeting two years earlier. In 2014 Pell, who was a former White House staffer under the Obama administration, ran for the Democratic Party nomination for Governor of Rhode Island. However, he lost to State Treasurer Gina Raimondo. One year later, Kwan joined Hillary Clinton’s campaign and worked as a surrogate outreach coordinator during the 2016 presidential election.
