It's good news for fans of The CW's new hit drama!

The critically acclaimed teen drama Riverdale, based on the characters from the Archie comics, has been renewed for a second season, as reported by Variety.

Riverdale has received decent, yet not fantastic ratings, but has made up for it in digital delayed ratings, such as DVR viewings, Deadline notes.

The cast of Riverdale took to Twitter to express their gratitude over get renewed for season two.

Star Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper, was on a plane when she found out the news and just had to tweet out her excitement.

This news marks a very early renewal decision from The CW and the first new show from the network to receive a season two.

The CW has been busy renewing their hit shows though. The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Supernatural and Jane the Virgin have all been picked up for new seasons.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Riverdale!  We can't wait to see what's in store for season two!
