Zeke Smith said he kept his secret because he did not want to be known as just "that transgender contestant on Survivor," but he couldn't keep it for very long because he was outed by another contestant on the CBS show.

Viewers were outraged when they saw the episode of fellow competitor, Jeff Varner, calling Smith out for being transgender. Varner was sent packing that very night and has since apologized several times. But Smith was very upset saying later that “a person’s gender history is private information and it is up to them, and only them, when, how, and to whom they choose to disclose that information. Keeping your gender history private is not the same as a gay person being ‘in the closet’. The only people who need to know are medical professionals and naked fun time friends.”

Many agreed that Smith's gender history should be his business alone and he has received a ton of support from the public including that of Caitlyn Jenner.

The former Olympian took to Twitter on Thursday, April 13, to lend her support to Smith, by tweeting directly at him writing “@zekerchief Being trans in the public eye is no joke, but you did good buddy. You made us proud.”

You'll be seeing Jenner in public a bit more now as she is gearing up for her big book tour for her memoir The Secrets of My Life. In Jenner's book she is said to have admitted that she had gender reassignment surgery and opines about exactly what she thought of O.J. Simpson and the 1995 trial of the century.
