Beloved actress Doris Day is celebrating her birthday today April 3. Day has been quoted in the past as saying she was born in 1924, making her 93 years-old-today. However, the Associated Press exclusively got hold of her birth certificate and found out she is actually turning 95 years old today.
The birth certificate shows Doris Mary Kappelhoff, the actress's real name, was born on April 3, 1922 to parents Alma and William Kappelhoff in Cincinnati, making her 2 years older than we all thought.
The "Pillow Talk" actress released a statement yesterday and cited the news as a positive.
"I've always said that age is just a number and I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it's great to finally know how old I really am!"
It is rumored that Day lied about her age when she was young to obtain an acting job or it was miswritten on an audition form. But nothing has been confirmed.
On her previous birthdays, Day would redirect the attention on her to her favorite cause: animals. She started the Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978. To honor her on her birthday, many people choose to donate to her foundation including country music superstar Reba McEntire who tweeted out her birthday wishes.
