Singer Meghan Linsey is discussing an incident in which a venomous spider bit her in the face and left a huge "hole" there.
The 31-year-old was awoken from her sleep one night in February by a stinging sensation. She swept her hand across her face and hit a large spider. She then realized that she had been bitten under her eye by a brown recluse, which is a venomous spider mostly found in the southern and midwestern part of the U.S. Most of their bites are minor with no necrosis, however, there are some cases where painful symptoms and severe dermonecrotic lesions can occur as was the case for Linsey.
“The swelling was the first thing, and then I ended up just having crazy, crazy symptoms,” she told People. “I had muscle spasms, then I had a body rash all over. They tell people to not look up things on WebMD, and I had looked up everything on WebMD and I had every symptom. Every day was another thing.”
Soon, things got even worse despite antibiotics Linsey was taking.
“I was supposed to be getting better, but I was getting worse – up until day nine, which is when the symptoms stopped happening and the necrosis started on my face,” The Voice alum explained.
Linsey documented her wound , which she refers to as “a hole on my face,” via social media.

Not seeing much improvement in her wound, Linsey decided to try hyperbaric chamber treatment and got some results.
Recently, a fan reached out to her about using Stratamed. It is a wound dressing and looks to really be helping her.
Linsey still isn't sure though if she will have to live with a large scar on her face but still feels she is lucky to be around.
“It’s kind of a pain at this point but, after going through everything I went through, I’m just glad to be alive.”
