What happens to an Olympian after he or she retires? Do they continue training even though they no longer compete?
Well, track and field superstars and husband and wife Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton are enjoying figuring out what’s next for them, but one thing is for sure, even though they are no longer training for events, they keep active and still have that competitive spirit. They have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the Team In Training program.
Two-time Olympic champion, Ashton Eaton holds the world record in both the decathlon and indoor heptathlon events. He attended the University of Oregon where he was a five-time NCAA champion (this is also where he met his future wife, Brianne Theisen-Eaton—they fell in love at the 2007 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships). He won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and went on to defend his title in 2016 Olympic Games in Rio; winning the decathlon gold medal and tying the Olympic record. He also appeared on the cover of Vogue last summer.
The always athletic Brianne Theisen-Eaton was raised in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and received an athletic scholarship to the University of Oregon. She competed in the heptathlon and women's pentathlon and won the bronze medal for Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The active and healthy couple spoke with TheCelebrityCafe.com about their training, courtship, life after retirement, what they like to do for fun, what their partnership with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the Team In Training program is all about and more.
