After a firestorm erupted online over a Pepsi commercial featuring Kendall Jenner that someone thought was a good idea, the soda giant has pulled the ad.

As we reported, the ad got considerable backlash via social media after many saw it as appropriation of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The actual commercial showed imagery of the nationwide protests but had little to do with politics.

Many people were upset about the image of Jenner standing in front of the policemen, which evoked the image of a Black Lives Matter demonstration with Ieshia Evans when she stood in front of officers. Evans was actually arrested for the cause but in the ad, Kendall hands a cop a can of Pepsi in what appears to be some type of peace offering. Yeah, so  as you can imagine lots of people had a problem with this and on Wednesday afternoon, just a few hours after it initially debuted, Pepsi pulled the ad and apologized.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the company said in a statement. “Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout."

The beverage producer even apologized to Jenner.

"We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position."

However, social media users know that Jenner wasn't forced to participate in the ad and are waiting for her to actually apologize herself.
