Bill Nye “The Science Guy” is notorious for making science fun. Nye’s educational shows are typically full of experiments and random facts to facilitate learning. Though the shows are usually geared towards children, Nye’s quirky enthusiasm has a way of making science fun for everyone … Unless you’re the host of the Today Show.

On April 19, Nye appeared on the Today Show to promote Earth Day during a fun fact segment.  The co-host of the show, Hoda Kotb, asked people on the street to answer scientific questions for a chance to win money.

Back in the studio, Nye sat with Kathie Lee Gifford waiting to explain the answers. At least that is what he attempted to do.

In the video that has since gone viral, Gifford’s lack of enthusiasm is taken to the extreme. Throughout the segment Gifford made faces at the camera, annoyed at the prospect of learning anything about the topics brought up.

Near the end, Gifford asks Nye about whether there are any black flowers on Earth. As Nye is attempting to explain, Gifford cuts him off. However, Nye stays classy to the end and finishes the explanation before the segment finishes.
