Fox has renewed the police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine for season 5.
Despite declining ratings and a only a mere 1.7 million viewers during recent episodes this current season, Deadline reported that Fox has decided to bring back the Nine-Nine team for the 2017-18 season. Because of these statistics, there is a lot of speculation as to whether season 5 will contain the usual 20-something episodes or be shortened.
Starring Andy Samberg as the immature yet skilled Detective Jake Peralta, the series follows a diverse team of NYPD detectives who are lead by a strict and serious commanding officer. The series also stars Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Andre Braugher, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine debuted in 2013 and is currently one of Fox's longest-running comedies, approaching it's 100th episode next season. The show has won two Creative Arts Emmys as well as two Golden Globes.
The hour-long finale of season 4 is set to air on May 23.
