Original cast members Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman are all returning for the revival, according to E! News. Sarah Chalke, who eventually played Becky, will also be returning to the series but in a different role.
"We're rebooting Roseanne," ABC president Channing Dungey said. "It is planned for the mid season. We're still at the early stages. The Conners' joys and struggles are as relevant – and hilarious – today as they were then and there's really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne."
The sitcom ran for nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. It won 17 Emmys during its run. Barr was nominated for four Emmys and won one along with a Golden Globe. Goodman had seven Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations, which he won one, Variety noted. Gilbert also received two Emmy nominations for her role on the show.
Roseanne is the latest series to be brought back. American Idol, Will & Grace, 24 and The X-Files have also recently gotten reboots.
