Katie Lowes has announced that she is pregnant with her first child and is addressing the future of the NBC drama Scandal, which is reportedly ending after season seven.
The actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday, May 11 and delivered the big news that she and her husband, Adam Shapiro, are expecting their first child together.
“My husband and I, we are expecting our very first baby! It’s our first one, it’s a boy,” she happily announced.
“I’m getting the house ready. I’m getting everybody at work ready. I told Shonda [Rhimes] within, like, I told her, like, five minutes from being pregnant,” Lowes said of the Scandal creator. “You know what she said to me? She already knew. Because she’s Shonda, she’s a genius. She knows everything that’s going on in the world.”
Speaking of Rhimes, Lowes explained that she is the one to talk to about if the show is ending its run in the seventh season.
“I have read things like that as well. You have to ask Shonda or ABC," she said.
