Frank Vincent died on Sept. 13, 2017 after having heart surgery while in New Jersey. He was 78.

Vincent is best known for playing various mobster villains — most notably portraying the ruthless mob lord Phil Leotardo opposite James Gandolfini in The Sopranos. He also appeared in several Martin Scorsese films, such as Raging Bull, Casino and Goodfellas.

Vincent was the actor who delivered the infamous, “Go home and get your shine box!” line in Goodfellas.

Other notable films that Vincet appeared in include Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever.

Vincent’s rep spoke with the Huffington Post, saying “In lieu of flowers, and in celebration of Frank’s amazing life, the family is requesting donations be made to a charity of choice. Frank lived life on his terms, creating a dynamic and successful path in every endeavor he chose. His generosity and spirit extended beyond his family and closest friends, as he strived to promote new talent in the performing arts.”

Twitter also expressed its sadness over the loss, remembering some of Vincent's best roles:

Vincent was born in 1937. He was married to Kathleen Vincent, had three children and two grand-children. In 2006 he also co-wrote the book A Guy’s Guide to Being a Man’s Man.
