Selena Gomez has had an interesting week.  First it was reported that she had broken up with boyfriend The Weeknd.  Then she was seen eating breakfast out with her ex Justin Bieber.  Now she has been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year.

This announcement was made on Tues., Oct. 31 by John Amato, president of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group.

“Not only is Selena soaring on the charts, but she continuously inspires young women everywhere to be authentic, give back and to not be afraid to use their voice.” said Amato who also added, “She is never afraid to speak her mind and has used her platform to advocate for the needs of others.”

The 25-year-old's recent hits include “Bad Liar,” “Fetish,” “It Ain’t Me” and “Wolves.”

Gomez also has produced the hit Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and recently filmed a Woody Allen movie. She got her start when she was a little girl on Barney & Friends and rose to fame as Alex Russo in the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place.

She is also active in various charitable endeavors, including UNICF, World Kindness Day and the Lupus Research Alliance.

Gomez is in good company with her Woman of the Year honor.  Past winners include Pink, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Fergie, Katie Perry, Beyoncé and Madonna.

According to Billboard the event is held in conjunction with their annual Women in Music Issue and also recognizes female executives in the music industry.  Other Women in Music honorees are expected to be announced soon.

Selena Gomez will will formally receive her award from Billboard Nov. 30 in Los Angeles.  The red carpet arrival will be broadcast live on Twitter.
