You can now take The Oregon Trail on the road
The popular education game, The Oregon Trail, released in 1974, can now be played when you are not on the computer.
You can only get the game at the popular retail chain, Target, as it is not available online as of right now. But the good thing is that it is only $24.99.
Just like in the PC game, you travel along the Oregon Trail in the time of the first American settlers. You need to hunt, fish, sleep and heal people just as they would have had to do back in the pioneer times. This classic game is getting a modern twist with a handheld, and the fans are so excited.

The Oregon Trail handheld game provides all the features of the PC game, including a full-color display and the original sounds found in the game that was used in elementary schools in the 90s. Other features include starting your own career, naming your party of five travelers, loading up the wagon and yes, hunting for food.
Basic Fun, also known for handheld versions of Pac-Man, Q*bert, Asteroids, and Frogger, have made this device as well.
The Oregon Trail handheld device is modeled after the Apple 2 computer, big clunky grey buttons and all. In order to turn the device on and off, you need to insert a floppy disk into the slot, taking you back to the days in the computer lab.
Target has made a push over the last few years to get these sorts of exclusive games onto their shelves. The game Codenames: Deep Undercover, was actually Target’s original idea. This handheld version comes two years after Target released a card game of The Oregon Trail onto their shelves.
Is your inner-kid as excited to buy this new game as we are?
