Netflix has acquired the rights to Beth Reekles novel The Kissing Booth which she wrote when she was 15.

The Kissing Booth is a young adult novel centering on a girl, Rochelle Evans, who falls in love with her best friend's brother after kissing him in a kissing booth.

The book currently holds a 3.57 rating on Goodreads. Reekles initially published the book on the internet site Wattpad. It brought in the attention of millions and earned Reekles a book deal with Random House

Reekles now has two more novels, Rolling Dice and Out of Tune.

The Kissing Booth will be a feature-length movie streaming exclusively on Netflix. The film stars Molly Ringwald from The Breakfast Club and Joey King from The Dark Knight Rises and Independence Day: Resurgence.

Beth Reekles is so excited to see her work turned into a movie, calling it "phenomenal."

"I originally posted the book online and people used to say it should be a movie. I laughed them all off and thought it was never going to happen. Now it is and it’s coming to Netflix, which is huge. The writers have made some changes to the story, but they were all quite minor. I think it’s stayed very true to the characters in my story.”

She even got the chance to visit the set while they were filming last year in South Africa.

The film will be released on May 11 and is written and directed by Vince Marcello.
