Apple has blocked the beta release of Valve's app Steam Link from iOS.
The Steam Link application allows game streaming from a phone to a television, so players have larger screen access. The Steam Link hardware allows gameplay connection by connecting a computer and a television. Many other free game-steaming apps exist and can be seen as alternatives for iOS users until Apple and Valve reach an agreement, including Moonlight and Rainway, which recently entered its beta stage.
Popular games for Steam Link include, among others: Bless Online, Raft, and Dark Souls.
According to Engadget, Valve said in a statement: "On Monday, May 7th, Apple approved the Steam Link app for release. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team."
It is speculated that Apple blocked the app for financial reasons, considering Apple takes 30 percent profits from apps sold and Steam Link's purpose is for customers buy games from third-party sellers as opposed to the app store.
Apple has made no comment yet, according to GameSpot, though Valve seems to be putting it up to Apple to reverse its decision without help.
The app is still available on Android.
