Outlander fans still need to wait until the fall before they can enjoy Jaime and Claire in season four, but they have reason to rejoice as this hit Starz show will not be going away anytime soon - it has been renewed for seasons five and six.
Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz made the announcement about the next two seasons on Wednesday, May 11.

“Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World,” said Chris Albrecht on Wednesday regarding the upcoming 12-episodes each fifth and sixth cycles according to Variety.
At the end of season 3, we saw Claire and Jamie alive and well on the shore of Georgia about to begin a new adventure together, but we know that they are filming in Scotland so it may take a while before they settle into American life.
This season was based on the 1993 novel Voyager that was published by Diana Gabaldon in 1993.
Season four is supposed to follow Drums of Autumn that was published in 19996.
In fact, Diana Gabaldon has not completed the series yet and it could even go beyond season 9.
Fans are sad about the Droughtlander that is forcing them to wait for almost a year before they get to see Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe in a new episode, but the knowledge that they will be back year after year they will have something to look forward to.

Something that does come as a bit of a disappointment though is that the subsequent seasons will be only 12 episodes long, rather than the 13 of the past two, The first season had 16 episodes.
The two new seasons are expected to surface in 2019 and 2020.
