On the latest episode of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, Tandy and Tyrone finally discuss their connection and powers.

Previously on Cloak & Dagger, Tandy and Tyrone had visions of each other and found out the other’s hopes and fears.

“Call/Response” picks up immediately where the last episode ended. Tyrone tells Tandy he found her because of the vision and the two agree to sit down and talk. They light candles and Tyrone tells her about the Voodoo cleansing ritual. He tells her about the vision of her father being tortured by the Roxxon Corporation and how she kept running away. He reveals when she finally stayed and fought, the vision ended.

The next day Tyrone is a bit rude to his parents as he leaves the house. At school, Tyrone and Evita look at photos in a dark room and then make out.

Tandy goes to ask her mother about the case her boyfriend Greg is putting together against Roxxon. Melissa says she wants to clear his name have him seen as a good, hardworking man. Tandy and Melissa argue about Greg, who appears with food seconds later.

Greg tells Tandy he wants to clean up the yard and wonders if she wants to help him plant a garden. She asks him what he wants with her family. He says he knows none of them are perfect, but he cares for Melissa.

In a flashback to Tyrone and Tandy conversation, they discuss their visions and powers. Tyrone reveals he can see people’s fears, and Tandy says she can view their hopes. Back in the present, Tandy touches Greg while helping him with dinner. She sees him wanting to be a family with her and Melissa, making dinner and talking about a home.

Tandy goes to Greg’s work and watches him to see if he is a good person. In a flashback, Tandy looks though Tyrone’s wallet and tells him how to get to his cop. He says he can’t just go into the police station as a black man. She tells him to create a story the cops will believe. He breaks the locks on his bike and stores it elsewhere.

Tandy enters Greg’s office and asks him about the Roxxon case. He says he has information about payments to a shell corp and papers. He shows her some papers and pictures. She suggests looking through the social media accounts of some of the younger men involved. He’s happy she wants to help.

Tyrone goes to the police station and tries to talk to a cop named Hannigan about his bike. He panics and leaves. When he gets home, his dad Otis talks to him about his missing bolt cutters. He lies, but his dad finds them in his backpack. Tyrone claims he didn’t do anything wrong, but won’t say how he used the tool. Otis is worried Tyrone is stealing and going down the wrong path.

Tyrone and Tandy talk about what their main powers can do and what they think is driving their fight. They realize Tandy has the weapon that Tyrone would have used to kill the cop, and Tyrone has the ability to transport elsewhere that Tandy would have used to leave New Orleans. Tandy remembers everything started when they touched in the graveyard and the two decide to try touching again.

Tandy helps go through documents on her dad’s case while talking to Greg. She asks about his marriage and he says he doesn’t have a real relationship with his wife anymore. Later at her mom’s house, the three eat dinner. Greg’s wife calls and Melissa tells him to answer the phone and he does after a minute. After, Melissa is upset and goes to bed while the others pack up the food.

Tandy thinks back to her encounter with Tyrone. The two close their eyes and see how close they can get to touching without their powers reacting. They touch and their powers push them on opposite sides of the room.

Otis takes Tyrone to a group of Mardi Gras Indians called the Wild Red Hawks. Otis reveals he was a member of the group and after being momentarily threatened by the leader, he is welcomed back into the group. Otis tells Tyrone about the beadwork they do every year. Tyrone looks through the clothing and picks up an outfit. He touches the beading and his father asks why he chose that outfit. Otis reveals the cloak was Billy’s, and Tyrone declares he will finish it in honor of his dead brother.

Tandy and Tyrone talk about how they felt after their powers manifested. They discuss their relationships and how they haven’t talked to anyone else about the powers. They both feel like they can’t talk to anyone but each other. Tandy tells Tyrone he’s too honest. Tyrone says he thinks she lives in the church because, despite everything, she truly has hope.

Tandy talks to her mom about Greg and says she thinks he cares about them both. Melissa says it doesn’t matter what Tandy thinks because she just broke up with Greg. Tandy goes to Greg’s office and sees a woman kill Greg and light the office on fire. Later, Tandy gets home and hears her mom leaving Greg a sixth message on his voicemail. She stands outside her mother’s door, upset.

Tandy drinks wine and the two teens talk about the survivors guilt they both feel. She mentions her vision and how he had hundreds of checks. She believes it’s meant to signify that he doesn’t believe he deserves the good he receives from others. He talks about wanting to be perfect, to live for himself and Billy. Tandy says she felt the opposite and wished she was the one who died, not her father.

In a flashback to her conversation with Tyrone, the two talked about privilege, which leads to an argument. He says despite her problems, she still has endless possibilities and he doesn’t understand why she wants to die. She says in her vision he was continually killed by cops after killing one, so he’s not one to judge her about suicide. They don’t part on great terms. After, Tandy does drugs and Tyrone works out his anger.

While Tyrone goes into the police station and asks for O’Reilly, Tandy ties a chain around her leg and bounds her hands before falling into the water. A few moments later, she rises from the water, ropes falling and a dagger in her hand. Later she goes to Greg’s office and uses her dagger to break into Greg’s wall safe and take papers.

Cloak & Dagger continues to be surprising and entertaining. I was surprised Greg was killed so quickly. The Mardi Gras Indians reveal was interesting and something I hadn’t heard about before this show. I hope we see Tandy and Tyrone try to understand each other more in the next few episodes.

Cloak & Dagger airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Freeform. Check out the preview for the next episode below.
