Actor Peter Fonda has been reported to the Secret Service by Melania Trump’s office after tweeting crudely in response to the devastating “zero tolerance” border policy.

The tweet called for the President and First Lady’s 12-year-old son Barron Trump to be ripped from his mother’s arms and stuck in a cage. Though it has since been deleted, the all-caps tweet read in full:

"We should rip Barron Trump from his mother's arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if mother will stand up against the giant a--hole she is married to. 90 million people in the streets on the same weekend in the country. F---.”

Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump’s communications director, called his tweet “sick and irresponsible.”

Peter Fonda, younger brother of actor Jane Fonda, apologized for his words hours later: “I tweeted something highly inappropriate and vulgar about the president and his family in response to the devastating images I was seeing on television. Like many Americans, I am very impassioned and distraught over the situation with children separated from their families at the border, but I went way too far. It was wrong and I should not have done it. I immediately regretted it and sincerely apologize to the family for what I said and any hurt my words have caused.”

His words come amid the border crisis of taking immigrant children from their families and bringing them to prison-like child care facilities.

President Trump has signed an executive order to end his administration’s policy while falsely claiming it began with Democrats, but the order only takes pains to reverse the policy of separating families.

Now what will happen is that families will stay together, but will face detainment in overcrowded facilities like these as they await their day in court.
