Academy-Award-winning actress Frances McDormand has been cast as God in the upcoming series Good Omens.

Good Omens is based on Neil Gaiman (American Gods) and Terry Pratchett's (Discworld) 1990 novel of the same name. The plot concerns an angel and a demon who, having become fond of life on Earth, must form an unlikely team-up to save the world before Armageddon. Unfortunately, they have lost the Anti-Christ, an 11-year-old boy who is unaware he is meant to bring about the end of the world.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Tennant stars as the demon Crowley, while Michael Sheen was cast as the angel Aziraphale. Anna Maxwell Martin, Jon Hamm, Mireille Enos, and Nick Offerman are also in the cast.

Amazon released McDormand's casting during their panel at San Diego ComicCon 2018, taking place this weekend, according to Screenrant.

Good Omens is set to release as a single-season, 6-episode miniseries, sometime in 2019. It has been in development since 2017.
