Lord of the Rings TV Series moves ahead.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Amazon has announced writers JD Payne and Patrick McKay will develop their Lord of the Rings series.
According to Vulture, it is unclear whether the duo will serve in a head writer or show runner capacity. They are known for the scripts for Star Trek 4 and Jungle Cruise.
There isn't any information on what the official story will be, but according to IGN, Amazon has said they plan to cover stories set before The Fellowship of the Ring.
One thing we do know? Amazon's in it for the long haul, having invested more than $1 billion for five seasons worth of story.
