Disney will launch its own streaming service, starting with ‘Captain Marvel’

Disney's streaming service is set to launch at the end of next year.

Before that happens, though, the company has decided to stop using services like Netflix to stream their movies, starting with Captain Marvel, which releases in early March 2019.

Slate points out that this lineup includes future Star Wars and Marvel Studios films, as well as possibly 20th Century Fox productions, especially after the recent merger. R-rated content will most likely not be on the new service, though other adult content is likely. Original content will also be produced for the service.

On the other hand, though Disney's 2012 deal with Netflix to stream content from 2016 and later is expiring, Netflix-exclusive Marvel shows like Jessica Jones will remain on the service, according to Cinema Blend.
